A man who spiked candy with sedative and gave them to minors at a youth camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offenses against two young males who were between nine and ten.

Jon Ruben was detained after eight youngsters and a grown-up fell ill at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.

The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the judicial center on Friday.

Nevertheless, he disputed one particular crime he was accused of, which was against a young boy.

Ruben was remanded in custody prior to a subsequent court date on 28 November.

'Treat game'

The legal representative, presenting evidence, outlined the criminal behavior to the judicial body.

She stated his victims were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer program which he operated.

Ruben engaged in a "sweet game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor explained, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".

She stated to the judge Ruben had played this game with the boys "over an extended period", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.

She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this over a long period as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had worries in summer 2025.

The legal representative added: "This year his family member had concerns about what was going on, with valid cause.

"They resolved" to investigate in the man's possessions."

The legal counsel explained items including infant oil, Vaseline and injection devices were found, and his family member contacted the authorities about his suspicions.

She said Ruben proceeded to conduct the "treat game" with six youngsters that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the next day.

"Authorities" had not gone out by that time," she stated further.

The oversight body, the investigative body, previously told that it was examining the police response of the situation.

Mrs Prior stated the minors were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so the family member called the authorities once more.

She stated Ruben then conducted the "candy game" in a area of five youngsters.
